Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 23, 2026

Curia is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who interact with our platform. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used, in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Alberta privacy legislation.

01What Information We Collect

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when registering as a buyer (name, email address, acquisition criteria including sector, size, and geography) or when submitting a contact form (name or firm name, email address, and message content). We do not collect sensitive personal information such as financial records, government-issued identification, or payment information through this platform.

02Why We Collect It

Buyer registration information is collected to send you alerts about insolvency opportunities that match your stated acquisition criteria, and to maintain a verified pool of buyers for use in trustee-authorized sale processes. Contact form information is collected solely to respond to your inquiry. We collect only the information necessary for these purposes.

03How Your Information Is Used

Your personal information is used to operate the Curia platform, send you relevant opportunity alerts, and respond to your inquiries. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not share your information with trustees, receivers, or other parties without your consent, except as required by law or as necessary to facilitate a sale process you have expressed interest in.

04Data Storage and Retention

Your information is stored on secure servers. We retain buyer registration data for as long as you remain on our list or until you request removal. Contact form submissions are retained for a reasonable period to allow us to respond and maintain records of correspondence. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at the address below.

05PIPEDA and Alberta Privacy Law

Curia operates in Alberta and is subject to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) as well as Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Under these laws, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate information, withdraw consent to our use of your information, and request deletion of your data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Privacy Officer at [email protected]. We will respond to requests within 30 days.

06Cookies and Analytics

Curia uses cookies to operate the platform and, with your consent, to collect anonymised analytics data about how the site is used. You will be asked for your consent before any analytics cookies are set. You may withdraw consent at any time. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking across third-party sites.

07Third-Party Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to operate the platform, including hosting and email delivery services. These providers process personal information on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it. We do not permit them to use your information for their own purposes.

08Privacy Requests and Contact

For any privacy-related questions, requests to access or correct your data, or requests for deletion, please contact our Privacy Officer by email at [email protected]. We take privacy concerns seriously and will respond promptly.

09Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the platform following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Privacy requests and questions: [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Curia is an early-stage platform. Listings are aggregated from public filings; the sale processes are run by the appointed receivers and trustees. Curia does not market, run, or take bids on any file without the trustee's authorization, and does not hold funds, value businesses, or select buyers — those remain with the trustee and the court. Not legal or financial advice.
