Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 23, 2026

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before using the Curia platform. By accessing or using Curia, you agree to be bound by these terms.

01What Curia Is — and Is Not

Curia is an aggregator of publicly available information about businesses coming to market through insolvency proceedings in Canada. Curia is not a licensed insolvency trustee, receiver, broker, dealer, investment advisor, or auctioneer. Curia does not market, run, or take bids on any file without the express written authorization of the appointed trustee or receiver. All sale processes are conducted exclusively by the appointed receiver or trustee named on each listing.

02No Financial or Legal Advice

Nothing on this platform constitutes financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. All listings and content are provided for informational purposes only. Users must conduct their own independent due diligence and consult qualified legal and financial advisors before making any acquisition decision. Curia makes no representation as to the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any listing.

03Aggregated Public Data

Listings on Curia are aggregated from publicly available court filings, trustee websites, and other public sources. Curia does not create, control, or verify the underlying sale processes. Each listing links to the appointed receiver's or trustee's own page, where the sale process is administered. The disclaimer "aggregated from public filings — Curia is not marketing this file" on each listing is accurate and binding.

04Buyer Registration

Registering as a buyer on Curia does not guarantee access to any deal, notification of any opportunity, or participation in any sale process. Curia reserves the right to remove any registered buyer at any time, for any reason, without notice. Buyer information may be used to match users to relevant opportunities as they arise, subject to our Privacy Policy.

05Trustee and Receiver Engagements

Where Curia is engaged by a trustee or receiver to provide services in connection with a specific file, the scope of that engagement is governed by a separate written agreement. In all cases, the trustee or receiver retains full control over evaluation of offers, receipt and holding of funds, and the recommendation to the court. Curia does not hold funds, value businesses, or select buyers.

06Intellectual Property

The Curia platform, including its design, software, and original content, is owned by Curia and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Public filing data aggregated on the platform is not Curia's intellectual property. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Curia's original content without prior written consent.

07Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Curia provides the platform on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind. Curia is not liable for any inaccuracy or incompleteness in listings, any missed opportunity, any loss arising from reliance on platform content, or any outcome of any sale process. In no event shall Curia's aggregate liability exceed the amount paid by you to Curia in the twelve months preceding the claim.

08Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta.

09Changes to These Terms

Curia reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the platform following any change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Curia is an early-stage platform. Listings are aggregated from public filings; the sale processes are run by the appointed receivers and trustees. Curia does not market, run, or take bids on any file without the trustee's authorization, and does not hold funds, value businesses, or select buyers — those remain with the trustee and the court. Not legal or financial advice.
